What are the best exercises to improve waist to chest ratio? What muscle(s) exactly is needed to widen the chest? Latissimus dorsi only or also the serratus. I have some ideas, but I'd like to hear yours too

Train all your chest (2-3 functions) to "widen" the chest
shoulder adduction + flexion (clavicular head) like incline smith or low to high fly
shoulder adduction (all heads) pec deck or bench ect

im not sure, are you talking abt frame or chest growth?
for frame (will widen your chest) obv do any type of lateral raises
lats too (lat pulldown / close grip row or both) frontal and sagittal plane
serratus training is useless imo and already trained in any kind of flat press

Yea my goal is precisely to widen that frame to make the waist look thinner

I've added the incline and low-to-high fly variations you suggested to the list. As you said, I'm also ruling out serratus the stimulation during presses is sufficient

Btw maintain my waistline, I'm trying to avoid strenuous oblique movements that can lead to obesity, so my waist doesn't thicken. It seems like we'll solve this with a combination of broad shoulders/back and a full chest
