Most guys don’t even to compliment their face with a haircut that fits their features. Fix that, and your whole look is elevated simply and affordably.

If you only do this part, you’ll already choose better styles.
Almost anything works. Just don’t bury your forehead with heavy bangs.
Quiff/pomp, faux hawk, textured top with short/faded sides. Avoid puffy sides and bowl shapes.
Crew cut, close buzz, textured quiff, classic side part. Texture on top stops it looking blocky.
Add width, not height. Mid-length, layered sides, side part. Skip skyscraper pomps. Short–medium beard helps shorten the face visually.
Build width up top and at the jaw. Textured crop, light fringe, sides not skin-tight. Beard fills out the jaw nicely.
Balance top to bottom. Crew cut or side part; light fringe to soften the forehead. A bit of beard adds weight to the chin.
More volume on top. Layered top, fringe to widen the forehead. Don’t take the sides to zero.
Aim for about three fingers of visible forehead. Soft fringe or textured forward top. Full slick-backs usually make it look bigger.
Keep some side volume (scissor cut, not ultra-tight fade) and skip super-tall quiffs.
Short textured French crop, messy side-sweep, or low-maintenance crop. Hard parts & shiny slick-backs make recession louder.
Fine / straight: needs lift/volume . Pre-style (sea-salt spray or mousse), blow-dry for volume, matte clay/paste to finish.
Matte looks modern and forgiving. Shine shows every mistake so save slick for slick/formal looks.
The best haircut is the one that fits your face, works with your hair, and you’ll actually style. Aesthetics first.

Quick fixes for common issues
High forehead
Aim for about three fingers of visible forehead. Soft fringe or textured forward top. Full slick-backs usually make it look bigger.
Narrow face
Keep some side volume (scissor cut, not ultra-tight fade) and skip super-tall quiffs.
Receding corners / widow’s peak
Short textured French crop, messy side-sweep, or low-maintenance crop. Hard parts & shiny slick-backs make recession louder.
Hair texture & products
Fine / straight: needs lift/volume . Pre-style (sea-salt spray or mousse), blow-dry for volume, matte clay/paste to finish.
- Thick / straight: remove bulk (texturize), light cream/clay, medium heat to calm puff.
- Wavy: ride the texture. Sea-salt or curl cream, air-dry or diffuse, matte paste to finish.
- Curly: shape + moisture. Mid top, tidy sides. Curl cream/leave-in, low-heat diffuse. Skip crunchy gels.
- Coily: sharp shape-up + defined top or short all over. Moisturiser + light cream; regular line-ups keep it clean.
Matte looks modern and forgiving. Shine shows every mistake so save slick for slick/formal looks.
Facial hair is free jaw & chin correction
- Full beard: Use lines to square the jaw and add side projection. Clean neckline (two fingers above Adam’s apple).
- Patchy: Short stubble or goatee to boost chin projection.
- Try to match beard length with hair length so it looks intentional.
Brows & lashes (the frame of your face)
- Brows thick but tidy, no unibrow, don’t over-pluck. If they’re light, a dark tint helps.
styling routine
- Towel-dry to damp.
- Pre-style: sea-salt/mousse (fine) or curl cream (wavy/curly).
- Blow-dry in the direction you want; fingers or a vent brush. Stop ~90% dry.
- Finish: pea-size clay/paste/cream, rub to invisible, work back → front, roots first.
- Optional: light hairspray from a distance.
Common mistakes
- Skin-tight fades on thin or long faces (makes your head look taller/emptier).
- Helmet head from bulk at the back ask for de-bulking/texturizing.
- Copying celeb cuts with the wrong hair texture and wrong face
- Long hair with zero layers = triangle/pyramid.
- No cleanup between cuts book a neck/ear tidy every 3–4 weeks. Or ideally get a haircut every 2 weeks
If you’re thinning (early)
- Keep it shorter, textured; skip heavy comb-overs.
- Matte products > shiny ones (shine = visible scalp).
- Fibers/powders only for events, lightly.
- Be kind to your scalp; separate medical route is its own thread.
- Check the balding guide and stop that hairloss and halt that receding right away!
